Leaders are responsible for the youth in the section in which they are trained.
The benefits of being a leader include:
Opportunities for travel
The chance to watch young people achieve personal goals
Participating in activities such as canoeing, hiking, rafting, water and snow skiing, camping, cooking over an open fire, crafts and other outdoor activities
Support in obtaining certificate 2, 3, 4 and diploma-level qualifications in various fields which can help develop a career path
Receive world-wide recognised training
Opportunities for social networking
The knowledge that one has contributed positively to our youth
All training is completed by Scouts Australia and is free to all Leaders. Leaders need to consent to a Police check and obtain a Working with Children Card before they are able to work with youth.
If being a leader isn’t quite for you then we also engage Adult Helpers who are usually parents or grandparents to help support the Leaders in their delivery of a weekly program, or maybe you have a special interest which you can share with a section of youth, or even become an Activity Leader in your chosen area of special interest.
Scouts Australia trains Activity Leaders in areas such as bush walking leadership, first aid, caving, four wheel driving and scuba diving.
