Scouts – Bungalook and Moocoota Troops
For young people aged 11 to 14 years.
Youth of this age belong to a Scout Troop and are called Scouts.
Scouts in the Troop are divided into Patrols - small groups of approximately 6 youth who work together. Within the Scout Troop there are increasing opportunities for youth to have hands-on involvement in the weekly running of activities, as well as organisation of extended activities such as weekend hikes and camps. Activities are often Patrol-based and can include such things from weekend hikes to canoeing, practical skills related to first aid, performing on stage or even knot tying and construction.
A multi-level award scheme within the scout section allows youth to be constantly trying to achieve their personal best whilst enjoying the wide choices the program has to offer.
The emphasis of the Scout section is to encourage the growth of valuable life skills such as confidence, resilience, leadership and responsibility.
As a Scout, youth have the opportunity to meet others from all over the world at national/international camps called Jamborees. More information on Australian Jamborees can be found on the Scouts Victoria site here, Jamboree.
